Usually, yes. Most thin, patchy lawns respond to aeration, overseeding and fertility correction. We only recommend fresh sod for areas that are truly too far gone.
Aeration pulls small plugs of soil to relieve compaction, so water, air and seed reach the roots. Most Connecticut lawns benefit from it once a year, ideally in fall.
Fall is prime time in Connecticut — cool nights and warm soil are ideal for seed to establish before winter. Spring works too; we plan around the right window.
